Today I am excited to present you all with an interview with erotica writer Melissa Craig. She kindly agreed to be here today to talk about her herself and her books. She has a weekly podcast radio show she co-hosts with Charity Parkerson where she regularly interviews other authors. Now I'm turning the tables on Melissa and putting her in the hot seat.

Yep Charity does it again. She gets me all flustered with one of her books. OUT NOW… Episode 63 has been out for a week, but I have been a little busy as I had a photo shoot for a magazine feature… OMG it was so much fun… the pictures look awesome…The magazine will be out on the 18th May, 2013. Which hopefully I will blog about in a minute. Hopefully, fingers crossed.
Anyway, this episode we talk about making audiobooks as we are in the process of recording them… well Charity is, mine is still on my to do list… (Dreams of being a full-time author one day so I can do the things I plan. Come on people buy, buy, buy so I can… ha-ha.) I learnt a lot so hopefully it helps you as well.
Poor Charity has had troubles with her laptop so we had ups and downs with the sound, but please persist. It is worth it just listening to me stuff up reading her excerpt as I couldn’t stop laughing or having visuals as I normally do with her books… Haha…

Yep I sit here early Wednesday morning, yep 17 minutes past midnight. After a crazy day of trying to get everything done in the normal world like washing, ironing, groceries, gym paying bills, cleaning, before heading to Brisbane on Friday for the Australian Romance Readers Conference 2013 as 2012 Finalist Melissa Craig Erotica Author. Why am I going? Because AMPLE ATTRACTION has made it to the final 10 in the Favourite Erotic Romance Category. Not only am I up against New York Best Seller Sylvia Day. I am up against other brilliant authors that the Australian Readers have chosen.
I have packed my bags, I have my award dress finally arrived from America, but I am still waiting for the newly edited paperbacks of Plentiful Package to arrive and I am set. I won’t be taking as many paperbacks as I wanted as they are so damn heavy and I will be charged excess baggage. Yes I know I should have got them delivered directly to the hotel, but then I was taking a chance at them getting lost. Trust me if it was going to happen to someone it would happen to me.
I have yet to find the excerpt to read out during the author panel on Sunday, but that can be a job for when I am on the 2 hour plane flight. The book signing is at the Mercure Hotel in Brisbane at 3:30 to 5:30 pm with around 50 other authors so I really hope I get some book sales as I am going to be surrounded by “the” authors of the Romance community you all love.
I can’t wait. I am not nervous at all, unlike I was with the Sydney 2GB radio interview. Maybe it is because I know some of the authors, I get to meet readers and I get to learn more about writing, taught from the ladies who have won so many awards I couldn’t count on my hands. Can you imagine the conversations for how to write a love scene… oh my… um… Yep a bunch of women talking about biceps, tapered hips, veins that run down ones arm… the way he smells, the way his hair blows in the breeze… hang on… I think I better pack another notebook… I might be inspired to write. haha…
Well I better go. Time to record another podcast. No rest for the wicked.

If you listen to the following interview I know some of you will go… OMG Melissa is serious. Yep, I was serious, I can be you know. Why? Because it was an interview about podcasting, more like a teaching episode for new people starting out in the podcasting world. It was about the programs I use, how I got started. So of course I talk about how we started with the FromPage2Screen network in the UK and how it has changed in the last year.
For those that don’t know I produce the Melissa Craig and Charity Parkerson Show now, well I have for the last 44 episodes. I just put out our 54th show about 10 minutes ago and we are going to be recording our one year anniversary show in a few hours time. Wow a year…
I had a great time with Jay and Aaron and I feel part of the family. I know I have only been doing this for a year but hopefully something I say may help you start out.

I had to share a snippet of my Media Blitz from the last few days. I went to Brisbane for a photo shoot and interview with the Courier Mail Newspaper. Then I headed straight to Sydney for my 2GB radio interview. Why did all this happen? Wow! I wake up this morning with an email from the
’102nd Celebration of International Women’s Day Columbus’
stating that I had been nominated for an award. I was nominated for my contribution to media with the podcast I produce “The Melissa Craig & Charity Parkerson Show’ and my contributions towards helping indie authors & musicians. However, the fact that I don’t live in the US I am unable to qualify for voting so instead they are giving me a ‘Honorable Mention’ at the award event on the 8th March, 2013. I am grateful for the ‘Honorable Mention’ and very thankful for the recognition on the amount of hours that go into podcasting every week. We do it voluntarily and yes it takes away from my own writing time every week, but Charity and I believe that all authors/musicians deserve to be recognised for the hard work they put into their creativity. This is our way to help spread the word and we would still do it even if we only had a few people listening every week.
This has made my day and I never in my wildest of dreams thought I would be one of those women mentioned at a IWD event.

I interviewed UK Author Matt Robbins @missivesofasub
Matt was one of the first people I followed on twitter nearly a year ago and wow, so much has happened since then. Not just for me, but for Matt as well. He finally got around to finishing the book that he started at 16. Yay!
At the age of 30 he made a vow (telling 36 people) he would finish and publish ‘Horn’ by New Years Eve. I was one of these people and I didn’t think he would get it done as it was September at that stage. I should have known better. When a writer is determined to finish something nothing will get in his/her way. Especially someone who is a sub editor at the Daily Star in the UK.
A year has passed, several dm’s from me asking Matt for a different word for whatever story I was working on and now he is guest author on ‘The Melissa Craig & Charity Parkerson Podcast’. We had a few technical difficulties at first and I added the behind the scene chats at the beginning of the show. Charity wasn’t able to join us with the time difference, so it was just Matt and I discussing his book, his writing, his love for music, twitter and more.

We finally reached episode 50 on ‘The Melissa Craig & Charity Parkerson Show’ and what better way than to have our friend Author Michelle Franco on the show. She writes paranormal romance and is currently working on her first spicy historical romance involving a cowboy.
We had such a fun time. We talked about her books, pro football this season, her ultimate fantasy involving Gerard Butler and she tells us a frypan story… haha. Charity snuck up on her during question time and broke her… she came out of the pervy closet. Yay! We made her that hot her cheeks could melt the icecaps.
We couldn’t stop laughing. Michelle is so funny and such a great person. This is not to be played when kids are around… use the headphones, explicit tag is needed for sure. She even read an excerpt from her next book.

My 1st Erotic Store @KendallBoutique Mmmmmm…
No, not the first time I have been in one. The first time my books will be available in an Erotic Store…EVER… Yay! It has been discussed on and off over the last few months, but I wanted to wait until AMPLE ATTRACTION was available as I knew it was “the one” to have in a store. When it became a 2012 finalist in the Australian Readers Romance Awards I thought okay, now is the time.
I spoke to the owner of Erotic Boutique of Kendall, Miami Florida over the weekend and he has ordered ‘Ample Attraction’ and the Simply Breathtaking books ready for Valentines Day… Add a set of red hand cuffs, a bottle of Syrup and Cream and you are set. The gift that shows return… haha… What? It will.
Umm… thoughts have drifted… focus… ahh…what was I saying? Oh yes. Yippee! People in Miami are going to walk into Erotic Boutique and see my baby and hopefully, hopefully think mm I need to get me a piece of that. I know that they have an erotic book section and all things related to 50 shades and now Melissa Craig will be next to it… I so can’t wait to get Robert to send me a photo of it on the shelf. Fingers crossed it sells.

I can’t believe I made the finals.
Oh my gosh…I just received an email from the ARRA about some of the authors on the erotic panel at the convention. I am up against some of these authors in the finals and I’m totally freaking out. Why? Because I read how many awards they have won, how many books they have written, how long they have been writing… Heart flutters.
How on earth did AMPLE ATTRACTION make it against these books, was my exact thought. Everyone has been telling me this is huge Melissa and I don’t know if I was in denial or had other things on my mind. But now I can see what people are talking about… Oh my gosh. Hand to mouth, tears in the eyes…
I have been published for a year and an indie author at that. A change with the times. That in itself is an accomplishment for all the hard work promoting, twitter etc over the last year. I am up against authors with traditional publishers which is wow! I have already won in my eyes as becoming a finalist in the AUSTRALIAN ROMANCE READERS AWARDS 2012 was my dream one day… This day has come and I am thankful, I am nervous, I am going to rock the beds of Australia… Oi… I mean the readers will. LOL.
